Project Overview
In 2004, Rush University Medical Center announced its plans for the most comprehensive construction and facilities renovation program in its history. The $800 million “Rush transformation” encompasses plans to invest in new technology, build new facilities and improve patient care processes, while at the same time reorienting the entire physical campus around patients and their families.
The first phase of this transformation consists of a 220,000 sq. ft. Orthopaedic Ambulatory Building (OAB)/Center of Excellence that is planned to be jointly owned by Rush, Midwest Orthopaedics at Rush and Medicus Capital under an air rights lease structure.
The building will include clinical offices, advanced imaging (MRI, CT), a bio-mechanics lab, a Gait lab, cadaver lab/learning center, physical therapy, a fitness center and retail space.
Special attention is being paid to environmental efficiency throughout the new facility and Rush will seek LEED certification. The Orthopaedic Ambulatory Building is scheduled to open in Summer 2009.
